As you may or may not know, HG Logistics, a third party freight broker, is located just on the outside edge of downtown Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a good sized city, and just like so many others, history shows that we have had our ups and downs. Recently, however, I have noticed that the city has been in the news quite a bit lately, and for some really great reasons. With the New Year just over a week away, I thought that I had better write this blog post before it is too late to enjoy one of the reasons Cincinnati is finally getting recognized as a great place.
US News and World Report listed Cincinnati as one of the best places to live in the United States. Our ranking is comfortable inside the top half of the top 100 places to live, resting at number 37. Employment opportunity, quality of life, desirability and value were all reasons that the Queen City earned her spot.
Forbes listed Cincinnati-Middletown the top place for new grads nationwide. Affordable housing and a young demographic, as well as employment opportunities and available entertainment options rounded out the many reasons that grads might just want to call Cincy home.
Travel and Leisure listed Cincinnati as one of the top travel destinations for 2017. Not only does Cincinnati boast both professional baseball and football teams, as well as smaller hockey and soccer franchises, we offer so much more, according to Travel and Leisure. A nationally recognized zoo and botanical garden, museum center, opportunities for performing arts, the Underground Railroad Museum, concert venues and more offer travelers a premium destination. Also mentioned are the redevelopment of the Over The Rhine neighborhood and the new Cincinnati Bell Connector railcar, which opened this fall.
The kudos don’t stop there, Techinsurance listed Cincinnati as a top city for tech entrepreneurs, scoring highest marks in their best places to raise a family and being budget friendly, having a comeback story and best destination for foodies categories.
Many folks who haven’t spend any time here in southwest Ohio may not believe it, but Cincinnati is really great. I am a transplant and it did admittedly take me a while to really warm up, but I have and I embrace and love this great city. There really is something for everyone, from ice cream to BBQ, alt music to homegrown bluegrass, professional sports to community leagues ranging from soccer to football to kickball, everyone can find something to love about Cincinnati.
